Cannes → Saint-Tropez: the route in detail
90 km separate Cannes from Saint-Tropez, roughly 1h30 of driving. The classic route takes the A8 westbound to exit 36 (Le Muy), then the D25 towards Sainte-Maxime before rounding the gulf on the D98A.
The pinch point is the entrance to the peninsula: from June to September the Sainte-Maxime → Port Grimaud → Saint-Tropez stretch congests badly, especially between 11 am and 2 pm and again in late afternoon. Depending on the hour, the inland road through La Garde-Freinet can save time.
Distance: 90 km
Average time: 1h30, up to 2h30 in midsummer
Route: A8 exit 36 Le Muy, D25, D98A via Sainte-Maxime
Tolls and fuel included in the quoted fare
Pick-up points in Cannes
Croisette hotels (Carlton, Majestic, Martinez, Grand Hyatt), Palais des Festivals, the old port and Quai Laubeuf, Cannes railway station, Le Suquet, La Californie, plus Le Cannet, Mougins and Mandelieu-la-Napoule.
For a summer morning departure to Saint-Tropez we recommend a pick-up before 9 am, while the peninsula road is still clear.
Drop-off in Saint-Tropez and the peninsula
The old port and Quai Suffren, Place des Lices, village hotels, Route des Salins, the Pampelonne beaches (Ramatuelle), Gassin, Port Grimaud and Sainte-Maxime.
Access to the village core is restricted in season and many streets are pedestrian. We drop you at the closest authorised point, with luggage help to the entrance.
Chauffeur, boat or helicopter
The sea shuttle from Saint-Raphaël or Sainte-Maxime avoids the traffic, but you still need a road leg to the departure port, and it runs on fixed timetables subject to weather and season.
A helicopter from Cannes-Mandelieu is about twenty minutes of flight, at a completely different budget. A chauffeur-driven car remains the only true door-to-door option: one vehicle from your Cannes hotel to the villa or the beach, fixed price, luggage handled.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a transfer from Cannes to Saint-Tropez?
Fares start at €354 in a Mercedes E-Class saloon, tolls and fuel included, from any address in Cannes to Saint-Tropez or the peninsula. The exact price depends on the vehicle and address and is confirmed before booking.
How long does Cannes to Saint-Tropez take?
About 1h30 out of season. In July and August allow 2h to 2h30 depending on the hour: the Sainte-Maxime approach is the main bottleneck.
What is the best time to leave in summer?
Before 9 am, or after 7.30 pm. Between 11 am and 2 pm the coastal gulf road is saturated and travel time can double.
Do you serve Pampelonne beaches and Ramatuelle?
Yes. We serve the Pampelonne beach clubs, Ramatuelle, Gassin and the peninsula villas. Give the venue or villa name at booking, as some are reached by private lanes.
Can the chauffeur wait for the return trip?
Yes, either as a return with waiting time or as a full-day hire, which usually suits better if you stay for lunch and the afternoon.
How many passengers and bags can you take?
Saloon up to 3 passengers, Mercedes V-Class van up to 7, minibus up to 16. State the number of suitcases at booking, especially for a summer stay.
